When the day of Pentecost was fully come, the Holy Spirit came tangibly upon the disciples.\u00a0 The Holy Spirit empowered one hundred and twenty (120) to speak in a diversity of tongues known as \u201ctongues as a sign to unbelievers\u201d. This is the supernatural ability to speak to an audience in a language you have no natural knowledge of.
\nAll the people who had gathered in Jerusalem from all parts of the world heard the 120 disciples speaking their mother tongue supernaturally, talking about the wonderful works of God.\u00a0 Others however, mocked that the disciples were drunk.\u00a0 To this, Peter responded that, this was that which was spoken (prophesied) by Prophet Joel (Joel 2:28 & Acts 1:1-47).\u00a0 The 120, led by Peter impacted three thousand (3000) people through the material presence of the Holy Spirit.
\nOne hundred and twenty people does not seem to be a large number for a church, and yet this relatively small number touched three thousand others. No matter what you are involved in, do not be discouraged by the numbers \u2013 be it in ministry, in business or in your finances. Contrary to the world\u2019s beliefs, the numbers do not matter if the Holy Spirit is involved. If 120 people could impact 3000 others by the Spirit, then the same Spirit can multiply what might seem to you as small, by extraordinary proportions. Do not look at the limitations you are faced with today, rather begin to engage the material presence of God\u2019s Spirit. It takes the material presence of God\u2019s Spirit for this kind of impact.
\nIsaiah 32:13-15 says \u201cUpon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:\u00a0\u00a014 Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;\u00a015 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest\u201d. The unpleasant situation will continue to prevail until the material presence of the Spirit is released into the situation.\u00a0 When this happens then the wilderness will become a fruitful field, and the fruitful field a forest.
\nTo make this material presence manifest in your situation requires a certain kind of focus, which is illustrated in the following scripture: \u201cFor thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof\u201d (Isaiah 31:4).
\nJust like the young lion, when he has caught his prey, does not retreat when the shepherds approach, so must you resolve to not allow any distraction to enter your heart and cause you to lose focus of your vision, or the plan and purpose of God concerning you. Some distractions are obvious, while others are not. For the less obvious ones, you need to take extra care in order to identify them and be sure to avoid them in order to stay focused. Your success depends on this.
\nRemember the 120 disciples were in the upper room for ten days after Jesus\u2019 ascension, waiting in prayer for the promise of the Holy Spirit. \u00a0They might have been more than 120 in number, because we are told by Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, that Jesus showed Himself to more than five hundred believers after His resurrection. Could it be that the rest couldn\u2019t wait the entire ten day period before being endued with power? Clearly, the 120 are those who stayed focused to enjoy the promise of the Father.
\nIt requires a certain level of commitment or focus to get the desired results; without the necessary focus or commitment, your desires will not become a reality. Decide that you will experience all of God\u2019s best for your life. Then refuse to be distracted by your present circumstances and stay focused on this vision. This way, your impact in this world will be too significant to be ignored.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
